Liouville gravity from Einstein gravity
We show that Liouville gravity arises as the limit of pure Einstein gravity in 2+ ε dimensions as ε goes to zero, provided Newton’s constant scales with ε. Our procedure – spherical reduction, dualization, limit, dualizing back – passes several consistency tests: geometric properties, interactions with matter and the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy are as expected from Einstein gravity. متن کاملConnected Correlators in Quantum Gravity
We discuss the concept of connected, reparameterization invariant matter correlators in quantum gravity. We analyze the effect of discretization in two solvable cases : branched polymers and two-dimensional simplicial gravity. In both cases the naively defined connected correlators for a fixed volume display an anomalous behavior, which could be interpreted as a long-range order. We suggest tha...
متن کاملAnalogue gravity from Bose–Einstein condensates
We analyse prospects for the use of Bose–Einstein condensates as condensedmatter systems suitable for generating a generic ‘effective metric’, and for mimicking kinematic aspects of general relativity. We extend the analysis due to Garay et al (2000 Phys. Rev. Lett. 85 4643, 2001 Phys. Rev. A 63 023611). Taking a long-term view, we ask what the ultimate limits of such a system might be. To this...

متن کاملAdS3/LCFT2 – Correlators in New Massive Gravity
We calculate 2-point correlators for New Massive Gravity at the chiral point and find that they behave precisely as those of a logarithmic conformal field theory, which is characterized in addition to the central charges cL = cR = 0 by ‘new anomalies’ bL = bR = −σ 12l GN , where σ is the sign of the Einstein–Hilbert term, l the AdS radius and GN Newton’s constant.
